2005 16-1 Elite National Team HIGHLIGHTS CONGRATULATIONS TO THE RHODE ISLAND JUNIOR RAMS 16 ELITE NATIONAL TEAM Members ON A VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The team had back to back tournament victories and remained undefeated throughout both tournaments! They entered the Regional Championships in 1st place. Their goal was to win the Regional Championships and to obtain the bid to go to Nationals in Utah. The 16-1s finished the season with 43 wins, 15 losses and 2 ties for a winning percentage of 74.1%. The team competed in the Power League all season with the top 8-12 teams from the 16s Division which had over 80 teams in it. The team also competed at the Early Bird Extravaganza in Ohio, the North East National Qualifier in Baltimore, and the Southern California National Qualifier. The team will now compete in the East Coast Championships the end of May and The Junior Olympic National Championships in July. SCROLL DOWN FOR TOURNAMENT RECAPS & PICTURES.

SEASON RESULTS JUNIOR OLYMPIC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - JULY 2-5 The team finished 42nd out of 48 teams in the National Division of the Junior Olympics. All of the teams present had either won their Region's Bid or won a bid through competition at a National Qualifier Tournament. The competition was really good. Unlike in other tournaments, every game was tough and you had to play your best to win. Unfortunately we did not show up with our "A" game and teams took an early advantage of this and we couldn't recover. We competed closely against two teams, who finished overall at 11th & 13th, actually leading in game one but unable to finish out the last 5 points of the game. We ended up losing 23-25. There is a lot to learn by competing at this tournament. One major lesson was that we have to be mentally prepared to compete at our best from the first point of every game and be able to maintain our focus throughout the entire match. There were no easy matches, like we faced in other tournaments, and teams were there ready to perform. Our team was very young with only 4 returning players from last year and 5 players who had never played club before. Most teams have been together since they were 12 & U. We only have 2 players who have been with this team since then. The overall experience will help prepare us for next year.

2005 GIRLS JUNIOR NATIONAL QUALIFIER CONGRATULATIONS - California National Qualifier Flight 1C Champions!! Great Job in California. We finished ranked 40th out of 102 teams!
The 16-1s finished tied for 40th out of 102 teams in
the club division. We finished the champion of Flight 1C
bracket. We are really proud of the girl's performance given that
we also combined site-seeing & fun with playing.
This was a great showing for a team that is basically a
first year team. We're competing against clubs that have been together
for 5 years and only turn over 1-2 players a year. We have 2 - 5th
year players, 3 - 2nd year players, and 6 - 1st year players. This
is a great start.
